DEPT OF TOURISM UNDERTAKES SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN INITIATIVES

 The Department of Tourism, Govt. of Goa is observing a fortnight long ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ and ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ initiative under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Sanitation and cleanliness drives are being undertaken at key tourism locations in the state.

The initiative commenced on Saturday, September 16 on D.B. Marg, Panjim, where  staff of the Department of Tourism  cleaned out  solid waste along a  3 km stretch  from Kala Academy to Old GMC.

GOA: NORTH GOA SHIVSENA CHIEF MEETS DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

The North Goa district chief of Shivsena, Kishorr Rao, today submitted a memorandum to the director of education at Porvorim.

Pointing out at the recent murder of a young school boy in Haryana due to the negligence of school staff and management, Rao said that precautions have to be taken by the Department of Education and Goa Government to avoid any similar incidents in Goa.

The memorandum submitted by Kishorr Rao reads that, “all schools (private/government) have to be strictly checked by a team of education department, and direct them to correct any irregularities.”

The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited has decided to run special train for special fares between Velankanni – Panvel  to clear extra rush of pilgrims during feast of Our Lady of Good Health at Velankanni.

Details shared by the KRCL informs that Train No. 06099 Velankanni –  Panvel is a special train for special fares. It will leave from Velankanni at 09:45 am on September 9 and reach Panvel at 7:55 pm on the next day.

The Shadow Council for Margao (SCM) while criticising the Margao Municipal Council for wastage of public funds on wrong priorities, today exposed the highly deplorable state of the municipal vehicles and the affairs of the maintenance section.

POLLUTION-FREE BUSES RUNNING ON BIO-GAS & ETHANOL LAUNCHED IN GOA

Panaji (GOA) The State run Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) on the occasion of Independence Day on Tuesday launched three environmental friendly buses to be running on bio gas and ethanol.
The first of its kind bus transport system in the State was flagged off by Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha, who too experienced the ride from Adil Shah Palace to Raj Bhavan.

GOA: AMBULANCES TO HAVE DOCTORS ATTACHED TO THEM

Panaji (Goa): State Health department has decided to attach full time doctors to the `108’ ambulances which are specially commissioned to take care of cardiac emergencies.

“A doctor would be attached to the cardiac ambulances. Though the doctor would be sitting in casualty of the government run hospital, he will immediately attend to the patient brought by the ambulance,” State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told reporters here in presence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

GOA: HEAVY RAIN FILLS DAMS IN THE STATE, GOING TOWARDS THE DANGER LEVEL

Panaji (Goa) With the monsoon lashing the coastal state, the reservoirs in the State are fast filling and State government expect them to achieve full capacity by this month end.

“The dam levels in the State have gone up to almost 80 per cent of the capacity and farmers will not face water shortage for Irrigation purpose in the future,” State Water Resources Department Minister Vinod Palyekar said.

Palyekar has released the data of all the five major reservoirs in the State including Selaulim dam, which supplies drinking water to almost 80 per cent of the State.
