PANAJI (GOA): At the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the Goa Olympic Association held on July 22, when the issue of permanent recognition to the Goa Basketball Association (GBA) came up, the (Goa Olympic Association) G.O.A secretary general Gurudatta Bhakta was questioned as to how the G.O.A continues to grant recognition to the GBA faction headed by Milind Shankhwalkar, when the IOA has granted recognition to the other group headed by Fr Ralin De Souza.

GOA: MONSOON DRIVE ORGANISED FOR ECOSPORT OWNERS

PANAJI (GOA): Caculo Ford and Ford India Pvt. Ltd. organised the EcoSport Monsoon Drive for EcoSport owners on July 23, Sunday, from Verna to Nandanvan Codar.

The drive was flagged off by Nikhil Desai, director of transport and. Suraj M Caculo, joint managing director of Caculo group.

VASCO (GOA): Mormugao Badminton Club’s Major Ranking Badminton Tournament in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association will begin on July 21 at Deepvihar school, Headland Sada, Mormugao.
Players must report as per following timings: On July 21 – Under 17 Boys and Girls (3.45pm, Mormugao Taluka Players only); Men’s Singles Qualifying (5.30pm), Men’s Doubles Qualifying (6.30pm); Men’s Singles Main Draw (7.30pm), Men’s Doubles Main Draw (8.30pm).

GOA: GOA’S FIRST GM ANURAG MHAMAL FELICITATED

PANAJI (Goa): The Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association felicitated Goa’s 1st Chess Grand Master Anurag Mhamal at the Institute of Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji on Wednesday, July 19.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by a large number of Chess enthusiasts who congratulated and wished Anurag for his achievement.

Shrinivas Dempo, Dilip Salgaocar and Kishor Bandekar were also honoured for their role in promoting Chess in Goa at the function.

A short presentation, ‘Anurag – A Road to Grandmaster’, was also screened during the function.

GOA: DOUBLE CROWN FOR PARVATIBAI CHOWGULE COLLEGE IN INTER-COLLEGIATE TT

PANAJI (Goa): The Men’s and the women’s team of Parvatibai Chowgule College won Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis Championship, organised by Goa University from July 17 to 19.

Nikhil Jadhav, Yash Naik, Anang Mahato, Valdoo Fernandes and David Fernandes represented the men’s team while Eleanor Do Rosario, Aishvaria Joshi, Laxmi Shetye, Sarah Saussa Menezes, Sheba Raichel represented the women’s team.

Meanwhile, Don Bosco College of Engineering secured second place in the men’s category, and St. Xavier’s College secured second place in the women’s category.

VASCO (GOA): JCI VERNA TATTVA will be hosting the JAYCEEFONIA Games 2017, at Chicalim Sports Complex on July 16Sunday. JCI members from Goa and parts of Maharashtra will be participating in this event.

The Games that shall be conducted are: Badminton for men and women (singles), Table Tennis for men and women (singles), Football, Kabbadi, Tug of War, Chess for men and women, Carrom for men and women, Lemon on spoon race for women, Sac race and Shot Put throw.
