GOA: WOW! RAINS BRING BACK RIVER RAFTING EXPERIENCE IN MHADEI
Valpoi (Goa) The continuing rains in the coastal state has revived the White Water Rafting adventure in River Mhadei , a senior tourism department official has said.
The white water rafting which is an annual activity hosted by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) had to be stopped due to dry patch of the rains witnessed in the State. Goa is now witnessing incessant rain since last two days increasing the water levels in the Rivers.
GTDC has said that the white water rafting will commence in Mhadei river basin from September 21 onwards.

GOA: TREKKING EXPEDITION TO TONIR CASCADE IN SATTARI
The Monsoon Trekking Expedition by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) will be conducted at Tonir Cascade, located in the Sattari taluka on Sunday, September 17.
The trekking distance is four kilometers one way. Transport arrangements have been made from Margao Residency at 8 am, Mapusa Residency at 8:30 am and Paryatan Bhavan Patto Panaji at 9 am.
Registration fee is Rs 750/- (inclusive of transport, site-seeing and tour)
Veg and Non Veg lunch will be provided to the participants.

TOURISM DEPT BEGINS GROUND EXERCISE FOR SETTING UP INFRASTRUCTURE IN COASTAL BELTS
Panaji (Goa) The State Tourism department has begun conducting site inspections along various coastal belts to be developed central government’s Swadesh Darshan scheme.
Earlier this week, Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar conducted the site inspection at Betul and adjourning beach areas along with local MLA and leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar. The MLA placed various beautification works required to be undertaken along the coastal area.
On Wednesday, Ajgaonkar along with Minister for Housing Jayesh Salgaonkar inspected the Coco beach in Nerul and the Quedevelim beach and the area near Reis Magos fort.

SOON DRINKING IN GLASS BOTTLES ON BEACHES TO BE BANNED
GOA: COASTAL CIRCUIT DEVELOPMENT IN NORTH AND SOUTH GOA WILL BE COMPLETED WITHIN ONE YEAR: AJGAONKAR
A high level meeting was convened by the Department of Tourism and chaired by Minister for Tourism, comprising of coastal taluka MLAs and village panchayat sarpanchs who today unanimously resolved to complete all tourism related infrastructure development projects under Swadesh Darshan within a period of one year.
While the first phase of the Coastal Circuit Development Plan covering beaches of North Goa will be completed within the next six months, projects envisaged under the second phase of the Coastal Circuit Development covering beaches in South Goa is proposed to be completed within the next one year.

GOA: GTDC’S TREKKING EXPEDITION TO TAYDEM WATERFALLS
PANAJI (GOA): The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) will be organising a trekking expedition on September 3, Sunday, to Taydem waterfalls situated inside Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary.
The trek is expected to be easy and adventurous with a distance of 6 kms one way. The total distance from Panaji to the destination is 65 kms by bus. Veg and non-veg lunch will be provided to the participants.

GOA: CAG SLAMS TOURISM DEPARTMENT FOR FAILING TO CLAIM CENTRAL VALUE ADDED TAX, LOSSES WORTH RS 1.40 CRORE
Panaji (Goa): The Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) of India has slammed the Goa Tourism Department for failing to claim the Central Value Added Tax (CENVAT) while filing the service tax returns as it ultimately missed a refund of Rs 1.40 crore.
The department had not filed service tax returns up to year 2013-14 and on receipt of notice from the Central Excise Department (April 2015), it filed the half yearly returns for the year 2014-15 in April 2015.
