Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Goa will hold a seminar on ship building titled “Making Goa a Hub for Shipbuilding & Ancillary Industry” in the city on August 31.
According to a statement here on Monday, the focus at the conference will be to discuss and deliberate the various issues in the shipbuilding industry and channelize the opportunities for local industry to participate in the shipbuilding sector thus boosting Goa’s overall logistic sector as part of the efforts of CII to improve the logistics infrastructure and connectivity of the state.
The conference would address an audience of stakeholders from the shipbuilding sector, academia, vendor development, coastal and inland waterway opportunities, representatives of industry in Goa, leading importers and exporters operating in the state, shipping lines involved in the shipment of goods into and out of the state.
The seminar would be attended by Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Dr Malini Shankar IAS, Director General, Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, RAdm Shekhar Mital, Chairman, CII Goa State Council and Chairman and Managing Director, Goa Shipyard Limited, Vijay Dailani, Director (Marine), Inland Waterways of India (IWAI), Atrey Sawant, Immediate Past Chairman, CII Goa State Council and Business Head, Aterya Engineering Works Ltd.
CII Goa would also hold B2B meetings and vendor development initiative to provide an opportunity for business entrepreneurs to meet and interact with the important stakeholders from the industry and display products and services and forge business avenues, the statement added.
