GOVT TRYING TO RE-PAY SEZ PROMOTERS USING TAX PAYER’S MONEY: CONGRESS
The Goa Congress, on Tuesday, demanded that the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) must withdraw the resolution passed at its board meeting held on June 20 in which it resolved to refund the amount with interest paid by SEZ parties.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar, while addressing a press conference, said that the GIDC has no authority to pass such resolution. Chodankar further said that the three directors;- Sudhir Mahajan, Daulat Hawaldar and VP Dangui were not present when the resolution was passed in the meeting.
The GPCC president also alleged that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is also the Industries Minister, had pressurised the board to pass the resolution. He said that the government is trying to pay back the SEZ promoters using the tax-payer’s money.
