NATIONAL GAMES TO COMMENCE FROM MARCH 30 2019: VM PRABHUDESAI

The 36th National Games will be held in Goa from March 30 to April 14 2019, Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) Executive Director V M Prabhudesai announced after a meeting with officials of Indian Olympic Association.

Senior IOA  officials Mukesh Kumar, S M Bali and Dhanraj Choudhary visited the state to analyse whether all necessary arrangement, as well as infrastructure for the games, is up to the mark.

“The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru  Stadium, Fatorda,” Prabhudesai said at the press conference.

Speaking about the budget for the games, Prabhudesai said that the budget for the games is in the range of Rs 400 crore which will be spent on accommodation, transport, food, medical facilities, opening/closing ceremonies, and for the preparation of state teams.

Prabhudesai further said that they have requested the Union Government to sanction Rs 225 crore while the rest will be contributed by the state.
