PARTIALITY BY BJP GOVERNMENT IN STUDENT ELECTIONS IS BECOMING EVIDENT: NSUI
The National Students Union of India (NSUI) members were denied UCR forms in Rosary College, Navelim and Carmel College, Nuvem being major colleges among other colleges under Goa University.
The NSUI has condemned the direction in which the student elections are going and alleged that the partiality by BJP is becoming evident.
The process of election for Goa University commences today with the UCR (University Class Representative) nominations.
“It was very surprising to see that various colleges across Goa did not have the notification put up on their notice board and neither were forms available for filing nominations,” NSUI said in a press note.
The other major colleges include Nursing college, Bambolim, Goa Medical college, Goa Dental college, Goa College Hospitality and others.
The press note further reads that the total votes for the Goa University Student Council from these colleges itself turns out to be more than 15, with 5 each from Carmel College and Rosary College, considering the no. of University Faculty Representatives.
The NSUI has claimed that the colleges do not support the Goa University election system due to the timing of the elections or the colleges are under the pressure of the BJP government for not allowing election since Rosary and Carmel have always been strongholds of the NSUI.
